ARI Alpacas in Canada

Agassiz Alpacas is a full-time alpaca farm raising show quality breeding stock. Located in Canada, in the Heart of the North American Continent, our farm is situated 60 miles SW of Winnipeg and 20 miles N of the US border. The name is derived from Lake Agassiz, a glacial lake, which covered the area and drained leaving behind what is known today as the Red River Valley.

Since our inception in 1999, we have focused on breeding premium quality ARI registered purebred alpacas. Viewing the alpaca industry as a North American industry, all of our alpacas are registered with ARI, the Alpaca Registry, Inc.

In 2008, Xanadu P. Trovatore commenced duties. Trovatore's sire, Peruvian Presidio, is an amazing Pperuvian Caligula son, who has underpinned Pamela Ray's impressive breeding program at Xanadu Farm Alpacas in Colorado. His dam, Maple Brook Penelope, is a daughter of Peruvian Bueno. Trovatore and his four full siblings are all Champions in the showring. view his progeny
