Americano's Keswick takes Reserve Champion Fawn
at the 2010 Mayflower Alpaca Show in Crapaud, PEI.
He came behind a fawn female two years his younger who
went on to win Best in Show having already won Supreme
Female at the 2010 Ontario Alpaca Show. Judge Dawn
Brooker said to on-lookers "look closely at these two
because they are absolutely what you want to breed for".
She also commented on how well Keswsick was holding his
fleece characteristics for his age. Congratulations to
Kewsick's new owners Green Gable Alpacas.

February and our newest herdsire, Xanadu P. Trovatore,
has arrived. His sire, Peruvian Presidio, is an amazing Pperuvian Caligula son who has underpinned Pamela Ray's impressive breeding program at Xanadu Farm Alpacas. His dam, Maple Brook Penelope, is a daughter of Peruvian Bueno. Trovatore and his four full siblings are all AOBA Champions.
Congratulations to Robert & DeAnn Baldwin of Kansas
on the performance of their Americano sons at the
2007 Mid-America Alpaca Show in Kansas. Versailles
placed 1st in halter and 2nd in fleece while Valparaiso
took 1st in fleece and Best Crimp in show. Valparaiso
is a full brother to our female Agassiz EAS Ehrenfelser.
Our 2007 birthing season has come to a close and Americano has again sired some beautifully conformed and fleeced cria. They are a testament to his sound breeding value.
As we are commited to keeping our operation small, we are offering some of our breeding females for sale. Visit our sales page to view the females, some bred to Americano, offered for sale. In co-operation with Alpacas of Cedar Ridge these females will be in Kentucky in December.
The 2007 Canadian National Alpaca Futurity was held in April in Red Deer, Alberta. Agassiz EAS Clyde took 1st in his class. The show was judged by Jude Anderson (USA) and Peter Kennedy (Australia) both AOBA certified judges. As Americano's progeny are ineligible to participate we did not attend the event but sent Agassiz EAS Clyde to compete.
The 2007 Keystone Alpaca Classic was held in April in Brandon, Manitoba. The show was judged by AOBA certified judge Nick Harrington-Smith of the United Kingdom using a 60:40-fleece:conformation judging basis. With over 200 huacaya alpacas entered in the show, we were pleased with our performance. All 12 alpacas placed in their classes with two advancing to Reserve Championship. As well, we placed in both Progeny classes. Our results were as follows:

The 2006 Great Midwest Alpaca Festival (GMAF)
was held at the end of April in Madison Wisconsin. Judged by senior AOBA judge, Mike Safley, we were pleased with the performance of the two alpacas we took:
- 2nd Juv. Beige Male - Agassiz EAS Auchentoshan
- 4th Juv. Medium Fawn Female - Tell Truth's Justice
Tosh took 2nd in his class of 6 beige males. Safley paired Tosh and the 1st placed alpaca as being quite close with very low microns. He thought the 1st placed alpaca may have a slightly more organized fleece but did note that Tosh had an extremely soft handling fleece with a lot of brightness and that his fleece was nicely 'breaking into staples'.
Justice came 4th in her class of 10 medium fawn females. Initially Safley placed her 3rd but at the last minute switched her with the one in 4th position (the Champion Fawn at the Wisconsin Spring Fling). The 1st placed alpaca in this class went on and won Champion Fawn Female (she also won Champion Fawn at the Kentucky Classic and Reserve Champion at the Futurity). The judge commented that all 6 females that placed in the class were of excellent quality.
There are always things to learn. By Saturday morning, Tosh and Justice looked rather dreary! It was raining outside so the humidity up and they were getting warm. The fan we used was simply not adequate. We honestly do not feel they looked their best. We will be better prepared next time - better fans!
The 2006 Keystone Alpaca Classic was held in April in Brandon, Manitoba. Judged by Wade Gease of Wisconsin, we were pleased with the performance of the 8 alpacas we took:
- 1st & Champion Fawn Female - Mayflower's Coronet
- 1st Jr. White Male - Agassiz EAS Auchentoshan
- 2nd Jr. White Female - Agassiz EAS Ehrenfelser
- 2nd Jr. Fawn Female - Tell Truth's Justice
- 2nd Intrm. White Female - Agassiz's Celestial Aria
- 3rd Intrm White Female - SVA William's Reflection
- 5th Jr. White Female - Agassiz's Chardonnay
- 6th Jr. White Female - Agassiz's Baileys Irish Cream
We took both Americano's babies. His son, Auchentoshan, took 1st in his class of 11 white males and narrowly missed out on Reserve Champion White Male. The judge went back and forth between Auchentoshan and one other leaving it to which had the brightest fleece. As Auchentoshan is beige in colour and the other white, the white one won.
Americano's daughter Ehrenfelser took 2nd in her class of 13 white females. The judge paired her and the 1st place alpaca as being very close with Ehrenfelser having the brightest fleece in the whole class. The first placed female went on and won Reserve Champion White Female. Two weeks later, she took Supreme Huacaya at the Canadian National Futurity. Ehrenfelser was ineligible to participate in that show.
In the junior fawn female class, we took 1st with Mayflower's Coronet and 2nd with Tell Truth's Justice. The judge described both girls as have 'exquisite elite fleece'. Coronet went on to take CHAMPION FAWN FEMALE.
We are pleased to announce the addition of Tell the Truth and her daughter Tell Truth's Justice to our herd. They will strengthen the prestigious Accoyo lines of Victor and Sculptor and the Allianza lines of Hemingway and Bueno already present in our herd.
The 2005 Canadian National Alpaca Futurity was held in April in Red Deer, Alberta. Judged by Julie Bird and Rick Hodgson of Australia, we were pleased with our performance returning home with:
